About Thais P. Carter

I help organizations and individuals find more sure footing on the path towards purpose-filled work and delivering successful outcomes for the clients and causes they care about.

I serve as the Director for Strategic Initiatives at Princeton Theological Seminary.  In this role, I guide initiatives that extend the Seminary’s reach and engagement with a broader public. I come to this work after building dynamic organizations and strategic processes across a variety of fields, including publishing, marketing, higher-ed, businesses, and nonprofits. I do my best to bring together the skills, stories, and strategies from across these sectors to support my clients.

In addition to my strategic work, I direct Iron Sharpening Iron, the executive education program for women clergy at Princeton Seminary. I am the former Bonnie and Peter Raquet Endowed Chair of the Institute for Leadership and Service at Valparaiso University, where I established a broad portfolio of programs, including a speaker series and research conference.

Before transitioning to higher ed, I served as the Senior Manager for Global PR and Media Relations at KaVo Kerr, part of the Danaher Corporation. I held a number of roles with Advanstar Dental Media during my decade-long tenure there, winning several B-to-B publishing awards and ultimately serving as the Group Editorial Director.

I have a Masters in Public Administration from New York University’s Wagner School of Public Service., where I specialized in organizational management, with an emphasis on equity related to gender, race, and accessibility.

I live in Princeton, New Jersey with my husband, Heath; sons Isaiah, Bree, Sam, and James; and our Golden Retriever, Douglass. More often than not, you’ll find me with my nose in a book, around a table with friends, or watching something Marvel-related with my family.
